Here’s what’s been going on in my miniature world this week: 
that Anavrin brand you are all curious about, another from trash to treasure project, a few freebies for you, and more! 

🪴 New trash-to-treasure project 

 I’ve added a new piece to my blog post about miniatures made from trash: a tiny plant pot made with the help of… a bottle cap!

 It’s such a simple, everyday item, but it looks great, soil included lol.

🍺 Golden Years pub update 

My miniature pub, which I kitbashed from two Robotime DIY kits, is moving along nicely. This week I added white dollhouse paper tiles to the walls, painted the edges black for a clean finish, and even added a mirror to bring the space to life. I’m far from done! (is it ever though?)

🧍 Figurine hunt 

While working on the pub, I started looking for miniature figurines to bring some character to the scene. I found a great shop on Etsy, 3DCleverCom, and I especially like their standing man figurine. 
 

The shop owner can make any scale, but here’s the twist  Robotime’s kits aren’t truly 1:24 scale. They’re actually closer to 1:18 or 1:20, so I’m curious to see that when I order a custom figurine from his store, it will actually fit. To be continued!

💬 New forum chat 

Over on my forum, we’re having a discussion about the differences between a dollhouse diorama and a shadow box. Both are miniature displays, but the way they’re constructed can be quite different. If you have experience with either (or both!), join in here: Forum post.

📦 YouTube unboxing Anavrin

As I mentioned last week, I was going to receive a gift from Anavrin: their Kyoto Gion book nook kit. 

It arrived, and of course, I couldn’t wait: I filmed an unboxing video right away!

🏛 Free printable tiles  

I’ve added a new freebie to my collection of printable dollhouse floors: Gothic Revival tiles. They have a dramatic, old-world charm that’s perfect for Victorian or Gothic-style rooms in your dollhouse. You can download them here: Free printable tiles.

This one in the screenshot below, is also used in my mini bathroom in my pub, as seen above!

📚 How to assemble Miniature book covers 

 I also wanted to share how I assemble the miniature book covers from my Etsy store. 

First, I cut out the printable cover with an X-Acto knife, making sure to keep the edges clean. 

Then I fold along the printed lines to get the shape right. 

For the inside, I cut a piece of 3mm balsa wood, which gives the book the perfect realistic thickness.
